其实，训练狗狗应该在它出生后的几个月内就开始进行，因为这段时间可说是训练狗狗的黄金时期，因为这段时期正是小狗学习社交行为的时候，因此，在这段期间对他们展开训练就显得异常重要了。如果你家里有小孩的话，那对于它们的学习过程将有更大的帮助，因为你的宠物将会一直陪伴你的小孩成长，在这段过程中，它们将会学习到更高的容忍度。

对喜欢美食的狗狗来说，想教会它们新的事物及动物行为的最好方法就是利用食物作为奖励，加上你的赞美及鼓励，那就事半功倍了。但需要注意的一点就是，一旦它们学会了指定的动作及行为后，以食物为奖励的方式就应该是随机给，而不是每次都给，这是为了让食物成为它们无可预料的奖品，但是口头赞美则是必要的。
